The nightmare goes on and on. I don't see why they can't put up a barrier 25 or 30 yards from a checkpoint and make a driver get out and walk up to show some ID. Driving right up to nervous soldiers is suicide. Talk about a no-win situation.

Huh! I never thought of that before, M_Six, but that's such a good idea, how come they don't do that? The soldiers would CERTAINLY be better able to avoid this type of tragedy...
The Army is not about what is logical *cough* first hand experience.
This sh*t shouldn't happen. :-/

I hear what M_Six say and I agree with KnotHead. You'd think the military have intelligence (you know, elite and all that.) That's something they should have been doing. If I was the soldier I'd rather have them stop the vehicles there and come on foot with your hands up.
