Disgusting behavior

This BS really angers me. What irresponsible morons. They put their parents through two weeks of hell, cost numerous police departments thousands in man hours spent looking for them, and all they have to say is, "she was 19 and was going to do whatever she wanted to."

They should be charged for the wasted man hours spent looking for their useless arses.

Idiots.

They're over 18...they DO NOT have to have consent to DO ANYTHING.

man hours shouldn't have been spent on them...they're gone what, 2-3 weeks? It's their RIGHT to do that if they want.

Agreed, but the police will spend time looking for ANYONE who's missing, regardless of age. They should have known that. And there's NO excuse for putting your parents through that either, regardless of age. I'm in my mid-40s and I still let my parents know if I'm going to be out of touch for two weeks. They never even called home. How'd they known something bad didn't happen to someone in their family? I guess some families just don't care about that stuff.

It's right of their parents to worry, and it sucks their kids didn't even call them...but I think they over-reacted just a little...from the way they were quoted it sounds like their kids killed someone.

You have a point. If the media hadn't made this one of their "darling" stories, it wouldn't have been a big deal. Just two juvenile delinquents that ran away.

Still doesn't excuse the behavior, though.

They made a story of it before this? (aside the local news)

Hmm, I don't know if it's been national news or not. I regularly read The Boston Globe as well as other news sources, so I suppose that's where I've been seeing it for a week or so. One of the bozos is from Lowell, near Boston, and they were last seen down the Cape, so it figures it'd be in the local Boston paper.

Well, they should have called home, yes. But, the police should have also put this in context. They are adults, if they want to goto Disney World/Land and not tell their parents, they can.

There is a little bit of fault to go around here.

The kids didn't commit any crimes. The problem arose from 1 paranoid mother calling the police over essentialy nothing. I haven't talked to my mom in over a month and she hasn't gone all nuts and called a man hunt for my body .

The point is, these kids were supposed to meet one set of parents and didn't show up. That's what started things. Any normal parent would have been worried enough to call the police.
