Tech electrical connection strengthener?

Hi everybody!

I have a problem with my Jeep again (go figure) and need a way to strengthen an electrical connection. There is a wire connection between the motor and the switch on my driver side power window. It is a rubber block that holds several connections in place. The connection plug seem to have been pulled slightly apart in the rubber block. I need something that could coat the inside of the connection and the inside of this rubber block to facilitate the connection.

My problem is that I often have to hold the rubber block on the back of the switch to get a connection. This isn't very good when the connection is supposed to be behind the door panel.

I'm sorry I have no pics. If you could see it, I think you'd know exactly what I mean by the description.

Thanks
Dave

hmm...you could try some dieletric grease...it's supposed to work well, i always use it when replacing spark plugs. also you could try a hose clip around it.

i don't know how well these suggestions would work as i've never tried anything exactly like that before...but it's a place to start

The wires slipping out of those blocks is pretty common.Might call the auto parts and see if they make a repair kit.
A trip to the salvage yard to get one off another Jeep, and then splice it in with butt connectors would work fine too IMO.And would prolly be the cheapest.

There's nothing like working on a Jeep.

Nice plug in your avatar, BTW.

Now you just need a tough country 3" lift and 31x10.5 Goodyear MT/R tires and you'll be all set.

Actually.... mine does have both a 3" lift and 31x1050 mud tires. They aren't eh MT/R's, but they look pretty cool and do well off-road.

Awesome Dave. Those almost look like swampers. The wheels have to be AR767s, or US Wheel black steelies.

If you're ever up here, look us up. We'll take out to some cool trails.

Absolutely!

I need to find out what the wheels are, because I want to get a 5th to mount in the top rack. I guess I could get any old wheel, but I'd like it to match in case I ever do a mod to mount the tire on the back hatch.

Hmm. Any decent wheel shop should be able to tell you. I could tell you if I saw them up close. They look like AR767s. Probably 4.75" of backspacing. Anything less than that on an XJ and you'll have some rubbing issues. It might have the brand stamped on the inside of the wheel also, though finding out will obviously require removal of a wheel.
