do you enjoy/get some satisifaction from helping on message boards?

Do you believe that helping people on message boards makes you feel better or helps you in some way? There are times when I think that I would be just as well off never to have said anything at all. Rarely, does it give me that warm-fuzzy feeling.

I've just been pooped on so many times in life that doing good doesn't matter to me.

My principle is not just to tell somone how to do something, but help them understand why they do it

I just enjoy helping when I can. I've always been that way, whether it involves computers or anything else. My parents brought me up that way!

I learned a lot from others, and enjoyed passing it on. Haven't been able to do much in the tech forums for a long time now, though. Haven't kept up with changes, and when a question's asked that I could answer, ten people reply before I can type something out!

But when I get the chance, then yes - it does give me a good feeling to help others, especially when they acknowledge the help. And I've made a few lasting friendships along the way!

I wouldn't describe it as warm fuzzies. But the purpose is to help others. Share whatever knowledge I have and hopefully aquire some other's knowledge along the way.

Knowledge that I have shared that has been helpful to others and appreciated by others does leave me with a good feeling. I have all kinds of seemingly useless facts in my head, it's nice once in a while to be able to make use of some of them.
