Idiots. What is it about fundamentalism that drives people to do asinine things?

These people could have a bonfire with all the different bibles and religious text I have in my house. Heck, the Bible I bring to church has four different translations, all side by side.

Just because they're (other religious people) of different religions doesn't necessarily mean they're praying to different gods.

And this isn't Christian fundamentalism. Nor should these people represent Christianity, and if you allow one small group of people's actions give you the ability to judge all the rest, you are making a mistake!

Don't let this be your measuring rod for christianity or any religion, after all these people are just nuts anyway.

"God wants spiritual fruits, not religious nuts."

"If they give you ruled paper, write the other way"

"Where books burn, so do men"

I think these are all pertinent quotes, I only wish I could remember their authors.

These people are wierd and wrong!

Yeah, I do understand that these people do not provide a good cross section of christians, unforunately they are the ones that get the media attention. My issues with religion are not towards every single person of every religion, only those who stand out in this way and are fools.

That last quote sounds like something out of Fahrenheit 451.

I live 40 minutes from Greenville, these people are a joke, they also burned Harry Potter Books, CDs, Movies, you name it they burned it, what a joke. It is a sad way of placing themselves above the ppl who purchase and read those books. This is a disqusting display, and I think very few writings, short of Harlequin books, are worth burning. These ppl want to take us back to Hitler and the suppresion of views... sad

They make Christains look bad, the problem is that these ppl get the news, and outher churches that do service projects, run food pantrys, etc get no notice.

A-holes! That's all I have to say about them!

I am Lutheran (protestant) , but extremists like this are not in the same leauge, no matter what they claim. I'm lucky that this area doesn't have much in the way of extremists. Most of the churches are quite moderate really.

Actually, I'm suprised this takes place in Minnesota. You'd think you'd hear about this at other places like here...in the bible belt. Actually...now that I think of it I have heard alot of anti-Harryism ( ) , but I've never heard of it getting past the point of minor protests outside a local school (that was going to have a WICCA witch come in and talk to the students about Harry Potter).

i totally agree redwolf. i could almost see it happing at school (well...in the town, not from the college students itself). but not up there. i hear a lot of anti-harryism, in addition to anti-darwin (if you say you're an evolutionist most people look at you strangely), and other stuff like that.

i don't know enough about their specific beliefs, but these actions are like those that would come from a fundamentalist, but this is just one incident, so i'm not sure.

This stuff just makes me mad tho. i mean don't they realize that this puts people off of christianity and is thus negating their efforts at evangalism? anyways...i could go on about this , but i'm not.
