America's Panamian Tailor ? How did Walker Go Where the CIA Couldn't ?

Recently saw the movie Tailor of Panama, which was based on a John La Carre novel about a British Secret Service agent fallen from grace and sent to uggghhh Panama (huh? seems like a choice assingnment to me ).

Actually a scam artist he sends misinformation to CIA , which buys it and leads to an American attack on Panama over a dopey story of the Canal being sold to China + Tiawan !

John Le Carre has some cameo parts in it.
Geoffrey Rush quite excellent.
Movie is totally preposterous and enjoyable--but unfortunately has a bit of the ring of truth to it--I mean about dopey "intelligence".

John Walker, US citizen. Infiltrates Taliban. A place where the CIA couldn't/wouldn't go.

Learn HOW or maybe don't learn How. This is "intelligence", remember.

Shouldn't joke about it with CIA agent Mickey Spahn dead and a "poor boy J.W." movement afoot.

Hate to do this , But maybe a picture of Spahn's Widow at the funereal as antidote to J.W. "boy" pictures? With permission of course.

Maybe he was a weak minded little twit when he was 16, so if he was, why did his "parents" let him go off on some excursion half way around the world to discover whatever he was missing in himself.

He was over 18 when he was captured was he not? Well I believe that constitutes being an adult and being responsible for one's own actions.

"Treason" is defined by Constitution as giving aid and comfort to the enemy in time of a Congressionally d-e-c-l-a-r-e-d (?) war as witnessed by two persons.

Constitutional fundamentalists like myself would have difficulty with this. Otherwise a prominant ex-wife of a prominant multi-millionaire media magnate might have fried decades ago !

Personally, I think he should never have been taken prisoner in the first place. Indeed, none of the Taliban should be taken prisoner. When the first Taliban round is fired , fire should be returned until no more Taliban left to fire. Apprehending murderers is a dangerous business you know.
