And they say they think American media is biased:=)
Quote:
1 in 5 thinks U.S. may be behind 9/11
And finally, one more poll, this one done for the German Weekly Die Zeit. It shows that one in five Germans believes the U.S. government may have sponsored the September 11 atrocities. What's more, the poll shows that nearly one in three under the age of 30 believes that. Reuters says some don't believe Al-Qaeda (search) was responsible for the attacks because they don't trust the American news media, which one 17-year-old German says, "is controlled."
| I have been trying to find actual polling data for this but it appears no where.
I am interested in finding out how many Germans Believe this (Reuters says some don't believe Al-Qaeda was responsible for the attacks because they don't trust the American news media)
Solid logic there Germans, no wonder hitler was able to take over your minds in WWII. You will ignore the fact that Bin Laden took credit for the attacks. Just because you do not believe the american media. Solid logic there. Perhaps your media is the one with the severe case of bias and control.
Eeeeek.
I consider our media not to outright lie. They may pick and choose stories and slant them to their wishes. But generally they do cover stuff accurately. They have no overwhelming love of our government or it's policies so if any controll is there it is at a private sector level.

Our media definatly isnt controlled, but it sure is biased.
There are many times where only one side of the story is shown, and the other side is portrayed as some evil demon trying to ruin the world!

Well, a French best-seller claims the US was behind the 9/11 events, so -- crazy as it is -- the German poll is nothing new.
On the other hand, supposedly 47% of Americans think the Iraqis were behind it, and that's just as absurd.

The American press! Yes, the same American press that you state "I consider our media not to outright lie. They may pick and choose stories and slant them to their wishes. But generally they do cover stuff accurately."

Uhhh... sharder8... exactly what part of the media do you think spread that idea about? I got the idea that it came from the Bush Administration's attempts to link Iraq to al Qaida, and their making no attempt to discourage the convenient misconception that most of the hijackers were Iraqi.
Mind you, the average American's 30-second attention-span helps.

I would love to see the numbers from that poll as well.
Listening to hannity's man on the street interviews though I guess we are not some kind of intellectual giants either.
Sharder,
The american press did not outright lie. They reported what officials had said. They also reported on the unlikely nature of same. of that 47% I guess that one would need to know how many of them followed the news or just listened to their friends interpertation of stories during smoking break at the plant.
Theo,
I never, never, never got the impression that Iraqi's hijacked those planes. Where did you hear that? From early on (within days) it was clearly reported that they were saudi.

Theo --
If I remember right, initially you are correct in saying the Bush Administration!
But as soon as the Bush Admin. stated that that was not the case, it was back in the press and on the news that was true. Don't forget, if Bush says one thing, the press tends to say the opposite. And THAT is where the press relies on " the average American's 30-second attention-span"!

Who really does trust our media? We know they're all lying bias jerks trying to make the news. The media TRIES to mislead us. The media convinced people that pollution is at this insane astronomical high when the opposite is true, pollution has gone down considerably in the past 30 years. The media has everybody thinking that crime rates are just skyrocketing and we're all surrounded by gangs and criminals when the opposite is true, crime has dropped over the past 10 years. A few years ago they had some stupid thing about shark attacks being all the time, it was finaly found out that the year of shark attacks or whatever was no worse than any other year, the number of attacks fell well within the normal averages of the years prior. Lots of people seem to think that if you are white and you go to Compton, you'll get your butt kicked simply because you are white. That's not even close to being true.
The US media is less credible than the Iraqi information minister.
