Finance Career Opportunities

I am currently attending a 4yr university and I am confused on what to major in. I just finished freshman year and its time to get serious and find out what i really want to do with my life. I know that here I can find some good advice from professionals like yourselves who know what it was like to be in this position. This can be the most difficult and confusing time in one's life and I cant afford to waste any more time.

What are the Employment Possibilities for a degree in Criminal Justice?
What could be the starting salary or anual income for this position?

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What can I do with a degree in Psychology?
What could be the starting salary or anual income for this position?

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What about sociology and business?
What good are "minors", how effective are those?

These some of the few questions that I would like to have answered. If you have any experience or yourself has majored in criminal justice, please share you experiences with me. Thank You

Your advice is greatly appreciated!

The one question that has not been asked is what do you want to do. Think about it ,then see a guidance counselor. They're trained to help.

That is a really good site to answer all your questions. You can search or just browse. It tells you whether the "demand" for your profession is expected to rise or fall, how much money you can expect to make, what careers you can have, what your duties may be in each situation..... It's just a very good site all around for these types of things.

Good luck!

look up your intended field, and see hwo much you might make on average. As for piocking a major, thats all up to you. Find something you like and feel like you wouldn't mind doing for a while. I know all too many people who major in something either because they expect it to be something its not, or purely for the money, and usually that doesn't work out too well. Minors should complement your major. I'd usually say do something that isn't relaly related to your major because it broadens your perspective.

If you are looking at the field of criminal justice, it can range in careers from police officers, court officers, paralegal, probation officers, and support or security-minded positions in local, city, state or federal level (FBI, CIA, or military).

Especially in big cities, such as New York, there is a great need for social services which require criminal justice and psychology backgrounds. If you have any friends or relatives that are currently uniformed officers or laywers, talk to them to find out more. Civil service may not be the highest paying job to some but it may help to find what you want in life. Good luck.
