Media Talk about good luck...

I recently ordered a Microstar K7T PRO RAID mobo w/ AMD 1.2Ghz Athlon T-Bird for $228 from partspc.com. Well, the guy calls me today and says that they are out of the 1.2Ghz AMD cpu's. He wants to know if it is ok if he substitutes a 1.4Ghz AMD cpu instead for only $10 more!!! So of course I said it was ok. Just thought I would vent some of my happiness.

Kinda cool, I need to know what is in shortage here !

Here's a list of upgrades I got for free over the years :

33.6 generic crappy modem replaced by Supra 33.6 Voice modem.

1.2 GB Maxtor HD replaced by 1.7 GB Maxtor.

6x Mistumi CD-ROM replaced by 8x Acer.

Cyrix PR-150 CPU replaced by PR-166.

I once bought the 300 MHz K6-2 CPU in a store's demo machine and I discovered back at home that it was a 333.

My friend got the best upgrade after his basement was flooded :

K6-III 400, 128 MB, V3, 13 GB HD replaced by Athlon XP 1600, 1 GB RAM, V5, 60 GB HD. All this for the ridiculous price of 60 $.

Why doesn't cool stuff like that ever happen to me? With me I always get the "We're out of the super-guflutzenator that you wanted, and we reserve the right to make substitutions of equal or lesser value, so we are sending you our biggest piece of crap...Thanks for shopping with us!"

Congrats on the good deal!

I like it when someone goes the extra mile for you. Whether its company policy or some individual. A letter of commendation is a good thing to do. Reporting it in this forum is nice, but the actual people that did this for you deserve some recoginition. Nothing is as nice as getting a complement from someone for a job well done. It makes your day.
