Good read on Iraq

Mind you this is not what most of you would consider my typical "blather." Interview with one of the guards of the dead brothers. Talks of the actions of the Hussiens following the fall of Bahgdad.

My thoughts exactly.

Somehow, it seems capture would have been a better option.

Since you feel capture was a valid option, how many US soldier's death's would you have planned for?

Since were losing one soldier a day, is it prudent to try to capture two men who have sworn not to be taken alive and take some more men with them? I'm sure they had a chance to surrender if they chose to. I'm sure more will come out to prove my point.

The same people skewering Bush over soldiers deaths are now complaining thay we didn't get the "boys" alive! We should have tried harder. More sugar, less vinegar!

I can't plan for any soldiers' deaths, for I am not the enemy.

My point is that they do us no good dead in our quest to end this and capture or kill Saddam; as well as their deaths pushing him to realize that IF he has anything, now is the time to use it.

And FYI - I have supported this war and George Bush from the beginning.

It's one thing to support our troops, administration and cleaning up of some of the worst scum on earth, it something completely different to be bloodthirsty and have a bloodlust for your enemy.

In any case, I'm sure those who made the decision to kill rather than capture had good reason.

Prex. First, a commander does a risk assessment. In other words, is it worth taking the chance of getting Alpha platoon wiped out to get these guys alive? No? Lets try the bullhorn instead.

Bloodlust would be blowing up the bodies after they are dead. Sending in 10 TOW missiles is fear. Fear that they would get away, or possibly lure the troops in close and detonate some God-awful arsenel of whatever.
