A court decision that makes enjoyable reading

(for the most part): Judge Alex Kozinski, writing for a unanimous three-judge panel of the US Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, holds that Network Solutions screwed Gary Kremen when it gave away his title to Sex.com to a con man.

Some of the language, of course, is technical. But the writing is a pleasure:
Quote:
"Sex on the Internet?," they all said. "That’ll never make any money." But computer-geek-turned-entrepreneur Gary Kremen knew an opportunity when he saw it. The year was 1994; domain names were free for the asking, and it would be several years yet before Henry Blodget and hordes of eager NASDAQ day traders would turn the Internet into the Dutch tulip craze of our times. With a quick e-mail to the domain name registrar Network Solutions, Kremen became the proud owner of sex.com. From what I read of it, it definetely is something that the courts would have to decide, because what I read sways me both ways on the subject

He got the name for free, and Network Solutions got nothing in return for the registration. However, in all the other legal mumbo jumbo, it seems that there is indeed a claim.

Yikes! This is unfortunately why we have to have laywers, and not just for court, but to avoid going to court....jeesh.
