I have a 1994 Buick Roadmaster. The car went into the shop two weeks ago, for a leaky water pump. After the mechanic fixed the pump, the car would start up, but would stall as soon as you put the car in gear. He checked the fuel pump and various other things. His conclussion was that he does not know what is wrong with it.
It was then towed to a buick dealership, where they concluded it needs a new fuel pump. They replaced the fuel pump today, and the car still does no work.
Does anyone have any suggestions on what is causing the problem?

I moved your post into the community as this had nothing to do with hardware

Of course it's hardware. Just not computer hardware...

Obviously the mechanic did something while replacing the water pump. Did he have to bend a fuel line? Unplug a wire? Pinched a wire? Your mechanic will have to go back over his work and find it.

By the way, welcome to TechIMO. We have quite a few mechanics here so you're in good hands. I myself am a retired mechanic.

What does the dealership say regarding the matter?

Can't rule out something just dying at the same time, as it happened to me on a radiator flush and fill. Guy comes out to take the car, won't start...dead Fuel Pump.

As far as the stalling issue is concerned, they need to put that thing on the diagnostic scope and see what is/isn't happening. Thats what the OBD port is for ( onboard Diagnostics ). They can monitor all sensors and see if any fall outta range before the car dies ( or if something is amiss at all ). Have them hook up the scan tool and see what the heck is going on. The dealership should have done that after a visual inspection for something like this, if the mechanic knows ANYTHING.

I hate mechanics that assume.

That's what I would suggest also.May just be a sensor unplugged or a wire pinched/broken.

Welcome to TechIMO
