How to pronounce a name?

Is the name Rochelle pronounced;

a) row-shell

b) ruh-shell

c) reh-shell

I'm having a disagreement with a friend named Rochelle who insists that her name is pronounced ruh-shell or reh-shell, just like the name Rachelle. If you emphasize the 'o' in the name, she jumps on you and tells you that you're wrong.

People I've talked to mostly agree with me. What do you think?

Thanks.

i think it would be more like ro-shell but row-shell is close enough for me. But rachelle would be more like ray-shell or ra-shell or
rachel with some elaborate spelling

It depends on the dialect of where that person is from.
Respect what that person wants to be called.
I work with a lady with the same name, and she preferes rA-shell.
Though I am used to rOW-shell, I call her by the pronuciation she preffers.
Likewise, my sister's name is Colleen.
She prefers cAleen, not cOleen. It's just dependant on where that person was raised, and the dialect they are used to.

Don't argue about a person's name. Address them in the manner they prefer if you respect them.

Is it Aandrea as apologize or Andrea as in apple?

I refused to vote as you didn't clarify whether she carried weapons or not.

A picture of Surreal and a chainsaw is still fresh in my mind.

Call her what she wants to be called.

Just don't call her late for dinner.

lame, just lame, Mick.

I generally let women have what they want, as it's healthier. At least, I'm still alive at this point, so it has worked so far.

Cheers
Mick
