Purchasing car parts online?

Hi everybody!

I'm looking to do some work on my Jeep Cherokee over the next few months and would love to find a few good places online to get parts if they are less expensive than the B&M places in town. Are there any good online places to get parts in general or parts for Jeeps? I'd like to save some $$ if I can and a lot of the Jeep forums I've found don't understand that I'm cool with the factory $55 bumpers over the $350 modified off-road bumpers.

Thanks
Dave

Heh, good luck, Dave. The Jeep crowd is a hardcore crowd. To be honest, if you've got an AutoZone in town, they'll probably be cheaper than most online places. All of the online places I know of tend to deal in said $350 modified off-road bumpers.

You might want to check around anyway though.

One of my buddies gets a bunch of Jeep parts catalogs that are filled with 'cheaper' parts, but I can't remember the names off-hand.

Also, try JC Whitney. You never know what they'll have.

I did some looking for you when you were having your cooling system problems. I found plenty of sites that carry aftermarket add ons and what not but few "stock" parts. If you are looking for typical replacement parts can't help you.

I do know of a few Chevy/GMC parts outlets online, and a ford site, but no jeep places.

Thanks guys.

It seems that a lot of Jeep stuff is not carried by the parts stores, or at least a lot of stuff that I need/want. I have to go to the dealer for many parts and that can get expensive.

Thanks for looking Gomer. Your help with the temp thing was very much appreciated!
Draboo, BION, the PP mods and the forum mods didn't really have much interaction. Since I never really went into that area of the forum, I don't know who that is either.
I'll check those out, Whir.

Thanks again!
Dave

Right down my alley!

Dave, you might not remember, but I run our dealership's parts website: Suntrup Ford Parts Online

Now, I know it's not a Ford, but the service we subscribe to, parts.com, has other subscribers from most every make - here's the supplier list for Jeep OEM

Just check out a few, there's bound to be someone selling @ wholesale! I do it readily for registered users, it's no big deal to discount things, so don't automatically think "dealer prices" are too high.

Hi Dave,
When my ol van needed an $800. part a couple yrs ago, I balked at doing it. I did a google search for the specific part number and found a dealership in Washington state that offered it for under $250.
By searching for the part number, I was able to compare alot of info. Hope this helps....
