America drops a notch again

I just saw on the TV that (I think it was in SanFransico) they are making FORTUNE TELLERS (which include palm readers, tarro card people, and Other types) get a permit.

Ok, this sounds odd, but it doesn't seem TO stupid, right?

Their reason for doing it: People are wasting too much money on fortune tellers.

What!!! WHO CARES!!! I hate how we live in a country that treats its occupants like babies. I hate this paternal government! People should have the right to do what they want, even if it's stupid, dumb, wasteful, or pointless.

Everyone has the right to life, liberty, and the persuit of happiness as long as it doesn't interfeir with someone's elses' life, liberty or pursuit of happiness.

If you are addicted to gambling, it's YOUR problem, not the governements!

If people can't STOP going to get their fortunes read (who the *beep* gets this done anyway) then you are an idiot! Plain and simple. You have a problem, and why should the government try and help you with it? Why do they care? They don't care about TONS of other things that are WAY more important, like our $3,500,000,000,000,000.00 deficit? (really that much)

The governemt really should stay the heck out of personal lives. Protect the country, but let ME do whatever I want, as long as it doesn't hurt others.

Can you guys recommend a country that WON'T treat me like a baby?

I don't know if I was in SanFransico, but it affected SF. I think they just went to SF because there are a lot of fortune tellers there. I think if affects the whole state.

EDIT: my bad, it may only affect SF.

I FOUND THE ARTICLE!!!! ( it looks like it)

OMG! Quote from the atricle "A lot of people don't come forward because they feel stupid,"

THEY ARE!

"But she was very convincing and I was really emotionally vulnerable at the time."

WHO THE *@&@ cares! Quit your whinning! Man, I am sick of people whinning and asking for compensation for their stupidity.

My parents slapped me when I whinned. My dad told me, "Men don't whine, they take it up the butt or get off their !#%! and do something about it".

We need to let these stupid people die off. With all these parental laws around, they are surviving and even worse, BREEDING!

I love this ( i forgot who said it) "Stupidity is the biggest problem in America. I say we simply take the warning labels off of things and let the problem solve itself."

I don't know if you guys know about this story:

A guy ate nothing but fast food for quite a long time, and as a result, got fat and I think got a blood-suger desiese. HE SUED McDonald's! HE siad they caused him to get fat. Who drove to the store?????

great quote joker. here's a few more:

"Everyone's too stupid!" -Ghost World
Kyle: "Do you really think your civilization is better than ours?! You people play games by killing animals, and oppress women!"
Boy in Blue Vest: "It's better than a civilization that spends its time watching millionaires walk down the red carpet at the Emmys!"
(south park, kinda off topic, but still related i feel)

oh and also don't forget the woman who sued mcdonald's for the coffee that was...god forbid...hot!

anyways...enough thread crapping.
I can see several reasons why the idea is ludicris: A) as joker mentioned people just need to take some responsibility for themselves B) there is no way to determine who is for real and who is faking it because they are ALL faking it.

"It is consumer fraud protection,"
This is a phrase that usually means, "we want to be able to sue them if things go bad".

With a licence and a receipt you'll be able to take them to court over false claims and such.

So, next, fortune tellers will need indemnity insurance (... and I can smell money for lawyers both ways... )

Cheers

Wow, I just love the Hitler thing. To think that these people could possibly confuse fraud protection with a man who killed thousands of innocent people. My question is, shouldn't these fortunetellers have seen it coming? They probably have some sort of convenient 'code' against predicting your own future.

P.S. At least there's a heafty fine to accompany the permit, or whatever it is. It's not much, but at least its not costing the U.S. anything.
