At Home Fhorum Lhitturisee

I've noticed the slow degredation of the literacy in some of our threads, and it came to my attention when i looked at the forum thread http://www.techimo.com/forum/t72815.html I am starting to wonder if in fact the lax in the schooling system is starting to catch up with us. Many of my friends cannot spell to save their lives, nor can they use proper punctuation.

Although it does not make them any less my friends, or any less credible to me, i wonder what will come of their children. I know that my parents and family in general have flawless "grammar" skills, and i personally think that mine is on par with what standard should be.

What are your opions on this, i mean, it is getting kind of annoying trying to deciefer the bad spelling from "l33t sp33k"

no ill intentions against those who where made an example of, and I mean nothing against you, forgive my "Americanness"

That's not nearly as bad as many of the threads we see every day.

h4x0r 741k is one thing...not being able to spell even simple words or type a complete sentence without runons is another.

yeah surreal, I hear you, I am guilty of that myself, I have been branded for the rest of my life by Word because it capitalizes all of my "i"'s for me, and therefore one will grow lazy to the "shift" button. Sigh, I am getting better at it though. But then I look up at my previous post and I have one or two in there that aren't capitalized.

Forums are the only place I ever capitalize anything, or use periods for that matter (except for the ... ). So I end up using backspace a lot.

I usually don't capitalize anything when chatting. Nobody has complained about it yet, so I'll keep on doing it.

We are not all Oxford English professors, so a little tolerance of spelling and grammar errors should be allowed (eh, did I say that, Surreal? ).

Actually, I don't mind most spelling / grammar errors in posts, except when made by those who complain abou grammar and spelling in other ppl's posts (can I use ppl, please? It's lazier and quicker ).

It does become annoying when you can't understand what is being attempted to be expressed, though. That is my main complaint, and then it's often because the person is either a) not from an English-speaking background, or b) has very poor literary skills. In those instances it's just not cricket to complain, really, but just persevere and try to underatnd what they are getting at.

Anyway, those are just my thoughts on the matter.

Cheers

I misspell the most out of anyone hear. I have a decent reason. I have ADHD and never really learned it in grade school. And never really did anything about it. And when people say stuff to me about it I get really pissed. I probly misspelled this entire post.

Maybe you should consider using a spell checker for forms...ieSpell (I think that's what it's called) works for IE...I wish I could find one for Mozilla
