In Michigan I had a Nokia phone.. I forgot the company. Although I think only a couple use Nokia phones.
If you only need your phone for a short time it's fine to use.

Try Tracfone , We have one, and they work nicely for us.

Virgin Mobile has the most bang for the buck that I could find. We've got three.

Their deal is $60 for the phone, including $20 airtime. Rates are .25 per minute up to 10 minutes daily, .10 thereafter. Anytime. Free email, free voicemail - which do not count as airtime .
Refill cards are $20 & up, and are good for 90 days once activated. This is the best going for low-usage users like my wife, who has yet to use up a refill before it expires.

BTW, if you order it direct from them it looks like you'll get a bonus $20 airtime, but I've seen that deal in-store also at Best Buy.

<edit-added>
If you go to their site, the products page only shows the two more expensive models. On the right menu, under phones, click on "Kyocera Party Animal" for the $59.95 package.

GZ, actually, the phone itself is pretty durable & has plenty of features. It's a regular phone, same as other co's use. Accessories like car cords, hands free, etc. are readily available. Reception is excellent, actually better than my "regular" cell phone.
Refill "cards" are actually just a plastic card with a code # on it. You just key in the code to credit your account with the value of the card. Airtime can also be be purchased with a credit card, either through the phone or online.

We bought the first one for my daughter. Wanted something she could learn to handle bills with - w/o the capability of running up a tab!
Worked so well we bought my son & wife each one, and at this point I'm seriously considering dropping my Cingular account & getting another for myself!
