wow, what a lucky man! To be able to miss almost all of the 80's j/k

wow, amazing story though. I think most people would have pulled the plug due to medical bills incured! That is one strong family they have there!

That is a long time to keep someone on machines. I'm sure they're not cheap either.

I'm sure he's probably going to have a hard time acclamating to the 21st century. Think about it he was out since 1984!!

When I think about how many major things that have happened throughout the world it would be truly staggering. It would almost be like time travelling 19 years into the future.

I can't even imagine what things would be like in 19 years from now... 2022, that's just a long time.

Man, with those medical bills.......I'd think I'da either stayed in a coma or had the plug pulled 16 years ago.

It must be depressing to go into a coma at 20 and wake up as a 39 year old man. What would have been the first thing he said when he looked in the mirror? Im guessing "What the hell happened to my mustache?"

I also wonder who he first saw when he opened his eyes.

"Sandi, is that you?"

"No, it's Amber, your daughter."

"What the f***, you're sh*ttin' me, right?!"

That's when the person he thinks is his mother-in-law walks in...

This could be a great opportunity for archaeologists to study what people were like in 1984. With the data we have of that era today, creating a 1984 enviroment shouldn't prove to difficult for them.

It's amazing what love can do, isn't it?

This man's recovery is probably due to the attentions of his family, who seemed to continue to treat him like a person. Too often those who are in comas or who have pronounced brain injuries are "written off" by their families and left to vegetate in nursing homes, with no stimulation at all.

I think it's a great story, and wish him well on his goal of being able to walk again. There will be a lot of physical and psychological hurdles to overcome to allow that to occur, but, after what he and his family have already been through, nothing will seem impossible!

Thanks for sharing this, Droppyale.

Cheers
Mick
