I need an ethic suggestion :)

Guys, I need some good suggestions here: the situation I`m going to try to explain is rather confusing, so I`ll do my best.

I ordered a month and half ago a Viewsonic LCD from Dell and everything is fine with this monitor. Now, 2 weeks ago I staterted noticing that on the upper edge of the monitor, near the bezel, the desktop area is not spanned completely. There is a 2 mm line from the desktop image to the bezel.

I thought this was a problem and requested and exchage from DELL. They promptly sent me a new LCD, but the guy left it in the Apartment Complex leasing office, since I was not at thome, and did not take back my LCD!! So I went on and install the new LCD, working with 2 monitor setup and noticed that its a problem of my videocard. But anyway.

I go online at dell.com and see that my account has a 550$ invoice listed as Exchange. Everything is fine since I`m sending it back. Sent it back, they recieved it, well I went again to check DEll.com this morning and I see that they have shipped another LCD to me and the invoice this time says -550$!!!! I`m receiving a new LCD because they thought that the one I sent beck was my original one!!! Is that correct or I`m misintrepeting the invoice???

QUestion is.....if I receive the LCD....my ethics says that I have to send it back to DELL and explain I did not order it, though I`m really questioning if I should do that. I mean its their fault and those guys at DELL can`t really understand anything sometimes!!

I really need some good suggestion on this one

thanks!

Sorry for the long thread!

Call there tech support and tell them what happend. Most likely they will pay for it to be shipped back and they will probably give you some discount or something, or at least a hearty thank you.

They might even let you keep it (Thats a long shot though). Any way you have to be told to keep it by someone there. It would be unethical to keep it without trying to return it.

yes, thats what I thought.

I spent 20 minutes last time tyring to explain that I didn`t receive a prepaid label for the shipment of the LCD to a lady who couldn`t even understand what that meant.

Thanks for the suggestion, I`ll try to speak with someone like a manager of sales or something.

I agree, with Bob The Great. It would be unethical to just keep it. As nice as it would be to keep it you should really call Dell and explain it to them.

I think you are obligated to try, which you did. If they didn't want to take you seriously and fix it, fine! You can't force it down their throats...

Visa or no visa, you're thinking like a solid gold citizen of the world!
