Bush Investigation

This morning CNN interviewed two GOP Senators:

1) Senator Chuch Hagel (R)- Nebraska

2) Senator Saxby Chambliss (R) - Georgia (Hope I got the spelling right)


The subject was the 16 word sentence in the State of the Union Speech Bush made to rally opinion for invading Iraq.

To my surprise, both Senators felt that the involvement in this extends far beyond Tenet. They want an investigation to include not only Bush but Rumsfeld, Rice, and Powell.

They also want to get at the truth behind Tenet's sudden admission and acceptance of responsibility- which in itself appears suspicious- and the real reasons Bush had for including dubious material in a nationally televised speech.

Is it the GOP is thinking that Bush may become a liability for the Party in 2004 and beyond?

Or do they trust Bush so much that they are doing it for good publicity?

Either way, the noose is slowly tightening around Bush's neck.

Or so it seems.
