Just to be sure that i got this right...

i stopped following the war in iraq after the "end" of the official war. i just want to be sure that i understand what happened before "the end" and after it, so:

1) America found factories in iraq which are producing WMD.
2) Bush wants to destroy them so they cant build these weapons.
3) Saddam-leave-iraq-or-we-will-attack-the-country
4) saddam stayed.
5) War started.
6) American troops (and british) arrived in baghdad, war over.
7) no factories, no weapons (just the oil ignore this comment)
8) bush was wrong...
9) ... then bush excused he just got the wrong informations (sure)...
10) ... CIA boss is now the bad guy of the whole story!
11) bush spending money for AIDS help to show he's a good guy! (ignore this too!)
did i get that right?

please keep the thread clean and on topic.

That's pretty much what happened.

But if you hear some folks like Iron Duke EpiDemic tell it, it'll sound like Bush did the greatest thing for Iraqi people and only had their welfare in mind.

I heard on the radio today that they're saying his words were technically accurate since he supposedly prefaced the statement with "According to British intelligence sources..."

Frankly, I don't care who is guilty of giving Bush bad info. IMO, the president is ultimately responsible for his staff and should accept that responsibility. Whatever happened to "The buck stops here"?????

Was Bush himself over there looking? no...it COULD be his staffs fault...they very well could have given him the correct info...but even if they were at fault he has a responsibility..

Regarding "the buck stops here"

The neat thing about being on top is that the buck really doesn't stop there. You can make it stop otherplaces... for a little while at least. It's a fringe benefit.

it's more like

1)Saddam starts to make nukes (smacked down by Israel, thank goodness)
2)Saddam gets WMD, uses them on other country, and Iraqi population, tens of thousands slaughtered during Saddams reign of terror yet UN turns a blind eye
3)Saddam invades Kuwait, finally UN gets off it's lazy butt and does something
4)Saddam ingores UN sanctions and demands
5)Clinton bombs Iraq, demands inspecters again
6)once again Saddam defies UN
7)UN decideds to send inspecters again
8)Saddam hinders inspecters, fails to comply
9)UN too lazy to inforce it's own policy, US and coalition do it
10)after the neohippies and a few rat nations stall and buy Saddam time, WMD are either well hidden, destroyed, shipped to Syria, or given to terrorists.
11)neohippies try to use lack of WMD to attack president though he deposed of a murderous terrorist dictator, whine and moan, burn a few flags, generally annoy the population (you can ignore THAT comment.)

I guess they pretty much sums it up, right?

Blueliner has some of the points, Creaturs has some of them.

The moment the first shot was fired, it was too late for us to do anything about it.

All I can say now is the wars over, DONE, except for the finger pointing and grave digging.

And they will point fingers at everybody BUT themselves, until everybody is too tired to care.
