Anyone think they might have carpel tunnel syndrome?

I think I'm developing a mild case of carpel tunnel. My right hand (I'm right handed) hurts a little around the wrist. It started late last summer (about 2 months after I started using computers 24/7 - coincidence - I think not), but then went away when school started and I didnt have nearly as much time to mess around w/ the comp.

Now that I'm working again (I was working at a workstation in the summer - now I'm back at one again), my wrist has started hurting again.

Anyone have similar problem and/or suggestions on what to do? Other than stop using computers - as that that's not an option. I'd die w/out em.

Someone else had the same issues lately.

Here ya go;

1. Pull the Keyboard off the desk to your lap.
2. Pull the Mouse off the desk and run it on a piece of paper on your leg.
3. Never, Never reach out to operate the machine. Keep your arms close to your body.

What about if the back of your hand hurts? Is that the same thing?

Back of your hand? Could be Tendonitis - I've had it twice. Look for swelling or bumps on the tendons.

I've got the wrist pain myself. I want to get one of those gel pads but the computer stand I use has this horrible built in thing so I have to wait until I replace it with a desk.

I dealt with CT over the summer from repeated heavy lifting. I didn't have so much pain as I did numbness.

All good advice so far. You may want to look around online for additional info. I didn't bookmark any of them, but I found several great sites with good advice.

I think the CT I was dealing with was different from what you get with the computer. I found that exercises to stretch the tendons helped to reduce my discomfort.

I'm stuck with it (5% permanent). If you notice numbness in the first two fingers and thumb, or tingling sensations Get It Checked! The nerve that is involved controls those. That is one of the very first warnings. It gets more unpleasent from there JD

Gomer, by repeated heavy lifting, do you mean free weights/bodybuilding? I am so in to that. I'm on the lam right now though because I messed up my right side somehow (doctors still havent figured it out) and I cant lift.

It's got me really depressed, but I have to admit if it werent for the injury, I probably never would have got into computers. I went through 8 weeks physical therapy, but it didnt seem to help much. Buddies who havent seen me in a year say I've shriveled up like a little girl - it's been so progressive that I don't even notice except when I try to wear my tight shirts that I used to wear out to the clubs.....now they're loose as hell.

They're gonna put me on anti-inflammatory (they think I have tendonitis in my elbow and chest). Maybe it will help with my wrist... If I could get back into bodybuilding AND be able to use my computer w/ no pain, I think I might just die of joy!!
