-edit-Obviousy I missed the part about 3 times molester
The guy never acted anything out, but he did pose a risk (even if it is a small risk, children are involved). I think the man should have had counselling (it sounds like he should have saught it out himself, and did with the sex-offenders anonymous group) and phyciatric therapy until he was either deemed fit or unfit. Howver, I can't make more of a judgement than that, since the article only really said that "John Doe is a pedophile, but not an active one; he goes to a group to seek help, the group double-crosses him and reports him to the cops; he gets a restrining order; and really didn't say much else about the situation. There are alot of ifs here (did he retreive treatment?, did he seek out help besides the group?, did the group backstab him or was he on the verge of committing an act?
No offense Dave, as I detest people who even think of harming kids! (which this guy did and I probably would punch him in the face if I saw him regardless of the law) But he never did anything more than daydream it sounds like, and the law doesn't say anything about that (be kinda hard to enforce, eh?). But in a case like this, the man should definately receive help of some kind, to help him get over his lewd 'fantasies'.
