Tour De France

Any fans out there? I get OLN installed on Friday! My dad on the other hand is going to probably miss all of the stages because he'll be leaving for Yellowstone on Saturday I think.

I was just watching the Best Damn Sports Show. and one of the guests said that Lance Armstrong is probably in the best condition of any athelete.
They did a test and he rode a stationary bike for an hour and averaged 29 m.p.h. (That's BLAZING fast)

Of course he's got so much history and so many struggles I just hope he wins 5 straight. Of course what worries me is the fact that a French spectator may not be too keen on him winning and do something silly to sabotage him. (Which wouldn't be very difficult to do)

*EDIT* Let me add in that I do respect the French but it's that small number of them I am worried about. After the way Serena was booed (Shouldn't have been a big deal for her) just don't want anyone taking a cheap shot at Armstrong.

*EDIT #2* Can you believe Hamilton? Still riding with a fractured collarbone. That's guts for you. I don't think he'll be able to finish the entire Tour, but he's still out there trying it.

Nice to see the Aussie riders staying up with the leaders, especially Robbie McEwen.

Would be nice to see Stuart O'Grady do well agaqin, as he is from my hometown, and the main motivator behind the Tour Down Under.

I'm sure ScottW still follows the Tours.

Cheers
Mick

LOL Well to ride your bike as far as they do (and at the speeds they do) I would imagine you'd have to be a bit mad.

With the tour being such a storied and historic sporting event, I doubt we have to worry about any Frenchman trying to sabotage Lance and team USPS. The race is much too proud of an event for that country and its people........now some other national on the other hand, perhaps.

With all the crap France has taken because of its politics (some deserved, others not), I don't see them letting anything (within their control) smear their world showcase event.

Yes that does make sense. At the French Open they simply didn't show respect.
What is worrying some people here is the fact that the crowds could easily just throw something in the path of the bikers or straight at the bikers themselves.
I hope nothing happens, and most likely nothing will happen.

Another fan here! The Tour has got to be the toughest sport on the planet.

I haven't got cable or satellite so have to be content with an hour televised in the middle of the night. Too many trash reality shows on during peak time you see.

Lance is right where he wants to be overall. (2nd place) Amazing how fast that happened, eh?

Even more amazing if you consider that Lance Armstrong was battling cancer 6 years ago.

Yes it's really amazing. He really is an American cycling icon here. He does great things in the community as well. He knows what it's like for kids and adults alike that are suffering from Cancer.
Saw something on TV about him where he goes and does all sorts of charity work and talks to kids about cycling and his battle of Cancer.

He really is a role model for a lot of people.
