Kids German to English tranlation

Can somebody please translate this song title for me... my parents brought my daughter a music box from Germany and it plays "Schlaf Kindchen Schlaf".

BabbleFish translates schlaf to sleep, but I can't figure out what kindchen translates to.

Thanks!

Todd

I think it's infants or babies. There is an anthroplogy text with that as a title.

ClubMed would know if ya wanna PM him.

Cheers

That's what I was thinking. I did a quick google and found some stuff with baby in the captions as well.

Thanks guys... I figured it was something along that line. but since I haven't quite mastered my English in my 37 years, I thought I better get a second opinion!

According to this site, kindchen means little child.

Maybe it's not often used in German conversation anymore.

Cheers

Sorry I'm late to the post, guys. "chen" in German is a modifier meaning "little", as in Liebchen (little love) or Madchen. I've never heard the word "kindchen" before, but I'm far from fluent. I would agree that "little child" is correct.
