Why I will never buy a NEW house

The new City (as of 7/1/03) of Rancho Cordova, CA was said in the papers today to charge all new homeowners a $250 fee (bill?) every year to cover the cost of new policeman.

It seems that new homeowners get tagged for everything. They get metered water instead of flat rate. They get to pay outrageous HOAs, Mello Roos, Fannie May, etc and put up with CCRs. They get to pay for the new infrastructure. They pay all kinds of property and supplemental taxes. And who knows what else I haven't thought of.

What with the sky-rocketing costs of new homes these days, doesn't that seem unfair to all the new homeowners?

Well I hear about this a lot in California (Northern at least)
I think they want to try and do something like this in Rocklin as well. Too bad most of the police just pull over teenagers and drunk drivers.

LOL Well we don't have very many drunk drivers and they normally are never from Rocklin anyway.
I do find them pulling over teenagers often though. If you are speeding and don't have any tint on the window so the cop can see that you are not a teenager, chances are you'll be fine.

The only time I see adults pulled over is if they are going more then 15 over or they are doing something really stupid. (running a red light that has been red for several seconds)

Odd.. Then again I live in Rocklin so I will see them often. When I go to Roseville I rarely see any Roseville officers.

Perhaps your post should have been titled
"Why I will never buy a new house in California"

Many states aren't as radical as CA. Sometimes I often wonder if the politicians there haven't stayed out in the sun too long and have become brain damaged.

Yes well California has all sorts of issues.
Gas is a mere $1.75 at my local gas station.
