Hackers Contest this weekends

Weekend warning: Hacker defacement contest
anyone going to join the fun?? I've been seeing a few sites and articles about this..I think it might led to some bad things but it should be intresting to see how many sites actually get hacked.

A call for online vandals to take part in a Web site defacement contest has some companies warning clients to beware over the holiday weekend.
The contest awards points to vandal groups for defacing Web sites, with higher points awarded for sites that are run on less common servers. The winner of the contest will be the group that defaces 6,000 servers in the shortest amount of time.

have we got a team that is in on this?? I ahven't seen anyhting from around the site

I figured they'd take out as many well known servers as possible, and then try to take out local/smaller servers.

they get extra points for lesser knows servers...I haven't read the whole thing but i know its going to cause some havoc this weekend. The bad things is some hacks that are going to be going on aren't going to be in-conjuction with this contest. But it should be intresting to see how many of our favs get hit

yeah. And anyway they wouldn't get many points for my servers. they arn't one of the lesser used ones ( win2k and apache ).

But i know a few small isp's that are going to get the p00p smashed out of them.

You think TIMO would get hit? I hope Scoot's servers are up to par...

anythings possible I just hope if they hit my isp they do it while I'm gone and then they get it up and running again. AFAIK The only thing they are supposed to do is place a tag or something that lets you know you've been hit and by whom. I'd be up for it if i was any good but heck i can barely hack my own puter.

Well come on... They can simply add the tag, but where is the fun in that?

well the idea is to hit as many sites and servers as possible. the second link i put in shows a little more about it. Funny thing is the company that was sponsoring the contest had its site pulled by the isp... you know they are gonna get hit hard now
