"Bring 'em On"
Bush's message to Iraqis fighting US troops.
Excerpt:
"These men and women are risking their lives every day, and the President who sent them on this mission showed tremendous insensitivity to the dangers they face," said Democratic presidential candidate Howard Dean.
Bush is going overboard with his remarks (or perhaps doesn't understand what he says) in the face of a situation in Iraq that can only be described as "Deteriorating".

I remember issueing challenges to a division of the North Vietnamese Army about their courage, manhood, Inaccurate artirillery fire, craping in thier caves, cowardly officers, you name it. We knew many of the senior officer's names, and used make up stories about them and "sexual habits"...
The idea is to draw them out to fight so you can kill them!
Before you come out with the latest toll of dead soldiers, let me remind you that there have been over 70 police officers killed this year in the line of duty in the USA. Talk about combat duty!
"Bring 'em on" means get off your butt, quit hiding, and get dead! We got a country to rebuild!

I don't think he really should have said it. It simply appears to be arrogance. They already know that they are getting under our skin with the Guerrilla attacks (Which Rumsfeld already said wasn't happening).
I don't think throwing more gas on the fire is a good idea right now.

Well, this kind of talk is certainly getting Bush branded in a certain way.
I don't think it's a very "Presidential" way of articulating the message.
But then from Bush what can you expect? He seems to have lowered expectations from a President to all time lows.
I also think he's feeling cornered by the way the mess in Iraq seems to be snowballing.
As far as these three words he uttered, there is a term for it. Logopaedia? | |

If I were a member of the U.S. Military Forces, dug into a sandspit, and I heard about this braggadoccio from my President (who, by the way, is sitting safely at home in the White House,)
Man, I'd be pretty P.O.'ed, is all I can say. An open letter to George Bush:
Shut the hell up, Georgie.
Work out your macho fantasies some other way, but for Pete's sake, don't inflame an already crazed people (the Iraqi's) into killing any more of our soldiers! "Bring it on...." Easy for you to say, you.... I better stop right damn here. |

Bush, a proud Texan with a penchant for plain talk, told reporters on Wednesday: "There are some who feel like that conditions are such that they can attack us there. My answer is: Bring them on. We have the force necessary to deal with the situation."

Knot,
I cannot speak for everyone, but that statement would not have bothered me a bit when I was sitting in a combat zone. It shows faith in troops and resolve from command. His predecessor did not express a lot of faith in the troops and his resolve was questioned everyday after Somalia.

| Hyperbole.
At the end of the day, I wish people would remember the fact that "the force necessary" (that Georgie refers to) is actually human beings who will get killed.
Few things worry me more than a politician who is willing to send human beings into battle, especially on a transparently fake (read: Military-Industrial Complex "get rich" scheme) premise.
I'm sorry, but this comment by GWB is extremely revealing, as regards his real character.
Just IMO, of course.
