Why is it that in the USA you have all these coupons, mail-in rebates and so on, and we here in thee UK have squat all?

For example, there is a recent thread offering a Maxtor 120gb drive at Staples for $59.94 after rebate. We have Staples over here but there isn't anything like this - why? All the products come from the Far East so it isn't anything to do with shipping, neither can it be to do with taxes or the like. Why are we being deprived of these offers in the UK? It's not as though there is only a small market for computer stuff.

That Maxtor drive works out to about £38 - I've just bought a 80gb Maxtor for £67 ($104) which is a good price for the UK. The 120gb is £88 ($137).

I'm sure a number of ppl would agree with me...but dealing with mail in rebates can be a MAJOR pain in the a$$. You gotta jump through all these hoops and do everything to the LETTER in order to get your rebate.

I've thought about some of these coupons you've mentioned...but when it comes down to it I don't wanna mess with all the BS that comes with mail-in-rebates so I end up not getting it.

Trust me...you're not missing that much.
