New lows in debate
Maybe we need to have our mods move into washington? http://www.twincities.com/mld/pionee...on/6075525.htm
This is the sort of debate that happens in pre school. And we pay these people to to debate? We elect these people? Man, we need to sober up next election / job review time.
Still looking for a reasoned debate including Bush and Rumsfield regarding the reasons for the war.

I just skimmed thru it but my eye stuck on "Bush lied". Seems more and more people are now awakening to the probability that the President did outright lie to the American people just to push his deplorable agenda forward, by hook or by crook.
Eventually, one hopes, the facts will come out.

Those are the voices of desperate Democrats that have lost their entire platform:
Economic indicators: up
War: won
Casualties: low
Terrorism: not here
WMD: not a hot button with public, yawn!
Prescription drugs: granted & signed by prez...
Abortion: ignored, GWB won't bite
Gay rights: Demo's have to answer yea or ney on marrage, (can't win soccer mom's here)
Taxes: $400.00 check being sent. Hard to ask taxpayers to send them back...
Bill & Hill: still in the news sucking up the airwaves, overshadowing the Democrats.
Howard Dean leading money train: He is left of Ralph Nader
Ralph Nader: may run again!
Generally a poor year to be a democrat!
I'm surprised they haven't had a group mooning of GWB at the White House!

The war isn't over. Even if Rumsfeld says that Guerrila tactics aren't being used, we still have soldiers that are getting killed.
It's far from over.

Droppyale, you beat me to it. That was exactly what i was going to say.
In April, 73% felt the war was justified.
Today, its fallen to 56%. Still a majority (shows how many people believed the President's lies), but at this rate, its gonna approach the limit of zero ( in calculus-speak ).
Bush must be a worried man.

I didn't say it was over, I said it was "won". Yes, there are still resistance forces that have to be dealt with.
Casualties are low. Not low enough for you maybe, but low enough for an occupational army with no scorched-earth policy. I Suppose the Democrats could use that as a national platform, they could suggest more troops.
Terriorism: I think the terror cells here in America got "Americanized" and would rather eat Big Mac's and have jobs rather than meet Allah! You can't run on what hasn't happened!
WMD's: Maybe the world's intelligence services were wrong. I think there is some substance to it, and it will turn up. Point here is this is not a hot issue for voters where the Democrats can hang thier hat. America in general is in support of ousting Saddam, with or without WMD.
This was a summation of the issues that Democrats cannot take to the public. Thus the frustration leading to calling the presiden a liar. They desparately want to mount a challenge to GWB, but they can't find issues with "traction"!
You plinked me on four out of ten. That's likely better than the Democratic party right now!

Its not frustration. The President made out a case to invade Iraq based on imminent threat of Iraq using its stockpile of WOMD.
He even said it in his State of the Union address.
Sure, they may find a trinket or two buried in a kitchen garden.
But to sacrfice hundreds of US soldiers based on imminent threat of WOMD?
The President has a very low opinion of the people here or just thinks they are as intelligent as he is.
Anyway you slice it, the president's motives are under a cloud and until an objective bipartisan investigation clears him, there will always be lingering doubts.

This is not about WMD. It is about Democrats calling the Prez a liar.
The issue is the election and whether the Demo's can make a real run at it. They have been pushed so far left by events even Leberman is out. Lieberman was the only one likely to challenge the Republicans from left - of - center.

Agreed entirely, chuckiechan. This is all about the bruised democratic ego. They have been losing face time after time on issue after issue. Here's the real democratic dilemma: the only hope they have is for the country to do poorly, and things don't look good for the democrats...
It's not like they don't deserve it, though. Totally brought it on themselves.
and shahani, mike, all that are/were opposed to the war - ask yourself this, and be honest. Would you have had a problem with the war if it had gone through the United Nations?
