How can people make rational political choices...

...when they don't know Jack?

They can't when they base their information on polls like this one!

AFAIC, polls from all parties are questionable!

Let's look at 1 scenerio --

Let's find 800 people that tend to think like me and put their name and # on a call list.

Let's add 400 people to the list that don't think like me.

Let's add 200 random people to the list.

Okay, we now have a list of 1,400 people from which to ask a carefully worded question, that we will use for our poll.

Now, we will mix up the names on the lists.

Poll day we will call 1,000 people from the list. If a number is called and they are not available, go to the next person on the list.

Give the poll a 3% +/- error rate. And voila, we have what many organizations call a valid poll.

My point is Theo, 6 organizations can do the same poll in the same town and each have their poll come out in their favor!

Harder

and besides 66% of all polls are made up on the spot

but seriously...my own opinion is that people can't make their own rational political choices anyways...it's all turned into commercialism IMO and almost a game even, all fueled by money. any chance of the majority of americans making informed rational political decisions is next to nothing.

just my opinion though

I really do not know where they get their polling data from.

In my circle of friends virtually all of them know that no serious evidence of WMD have been found. College grads through High school grads allike all seem to know what is going on . They have varying theories on whether WMD were destroyed or hidden out of country well prior to the war or not and a few think that there were never any weapons to begin with.

But the poll they ran does not seem to reflect the varied opinions of the people I know. What did they go to a rehab center to do their survey.

This poll is consistant with other polls.

I get frighened of our democracy when Jay Leno does his "Jay Walking" routine, where he asks random people easy questions and they don't know the answer. Ex: He asked graduating college students 'how much the cube of three was?' or 'how many moons does the earth have?' and many didn't know.

I don't want these people to vote.

I would love to see voting have an educational requirement.

Or a test on the issues or current events.

Or not good for proving intelligence but a vesting test. Are you a vested american? do you own or rent a house. Do you pay taxes or have a steady job...
