I think that would be great if they signed up!!!

Maybe it could be an idea to open the community forum only to members?

Maybe a great big welcome to the lurkers to lure them into joining up so they can contribute too?

Maybe I've just got too much rain on the brain..... lol

Many people just come as guests to read some of the compelling technical content or to learn troubleshooting.

They are often members of so many Forums that they just don't want to sign on to another.

Of course, little do they know what they are missing.

I think alot of them are over on RR...but I've noticed the same things...specially late at night we'll have 15-20 members online and 500 guests

One of the weird quirks of this forum's vBulletin is the Who's Online listing, which often shows 10 - 20 guests at any one time doing moderating duties!

I ain't paranoid or nothing, as it's just a quirk, but it does make you wonder...

That's not the only quirk. Since Mid-March I think the members list in each forum is not accurate. Many times I see only one or two members at prime time but many are posting.

And its not that they are in stealth mode because sometimes they show up and sometimes they don't. There is something positively buggy here. Didn't used to happen before.

Yep, there are a few quirks. Admins have been putting off upgrading to the latest version of vBulletins because of all the custom hacks invested here. In fact, RobRich has said he thinks TechIMO has got so many custom hacks it is almost a different breed from most vBulletin sites.

But we still love the place, quirks and all!!

I thought the "extras" were when a admin or member holding more that one window open at a time.

I mean, If I am looking at one page, open 3 or 4 others, How does the system count it?? Arent they all mine?

Since I'm at one page, when the system updates how does it count the other pages I have open??

It doesn't count by Windows for logged in users...if someone's logged in they're put on that list and every window still has that person logged in
