RIAA suits-> viral sharing?

I was looking through TheInquirer.net and happened across a letter to the editor (the second one on this page.

While I don't condone this sort of activity, the idea really does let the proverbial cat out of the bag. It's interesting to me that

a) The writer sees the RIAA as "targetting" children.
b) The proposed solution to filesharing is... more filesharing?
c) A viral kazaa-like client would make it near impossible to prove intent?
d) Someone hasn't written something like this already.

The letter really left me scratching my head and vaguely unsettled, as any script-kiddie virus writer could set something like that off.

Actually I was already sure they were throwing viruses on p2p networks. I know that they apparently hired some people that could code viruses.

They technically are targetting children. (Teenagers) It's easier to sue a college kid and take his money instead of trying to sue an adult who could actually try and fight back.

This guy is a nut

Someone must write a virus which points out the flaw in the RIAA's inefficient war against children and gets straight to the real heart of this matter--the evils of the internet.
I don't like the way the RIAA is handling this issue but come one writting a virus to infect everyones computers in order to make it impossible for the RIAA to determine who they should go after. Thats a little over he top.
As for them going after children I don't think thats the case here. From all that I have seen their primary targets are people that have large databases of music to share. I'm still more inclined to believe that they are just doing this as a scare tactic. They will more than likely take a few people to court in the hopes that it will scare a few users [wich it already has].

We could then as a nation face the issue manifest destiny, and return to militarily and economically dominating the entire planet through the might of our ever expanding industrial and military capacities. I submit this in the name of unity and liberty against the excesses of "free music" and those godless music haters who want to force America's recording industry to move to India. God spare their demon souls.

Being a person whose music interests are primarily in the fifties and sixties, and having munerous LP's and cassettes of the music I prefer, I really don't have much incentive to purchase any of the new wave music. But with all the hoppla created by the RIIA and their stooges, and with the threat of getting virii downloaded to any of my computers the threaten my business connections and possible loss of convienence and/or income, I believe this senerio is going way out of control and an infringement on my right to the pursuit of happiness. And I hope thr RIAA reads this. They've put their foot in a place where the sun doesn't shine. I will NEVER, EVER buy another DVD, CD, VHS tape , or any other type of media that will directly or indirectly profit them or any of their cronies. I hate the artists have to lose, but this has become a matter of principle and I feel insulted and demeanored by the proposals put forth on thier web site.

Sharon Corbitt, studio manager at Ocean Way in Nashville: “As a studio manager and a nineteen year veteran of Music Row, I have seen the many changes that our industry has gone through. Action has to be taken to deal with the downloading piracy issue that is affecting our industry in a devastating way. The very person that is downloading illegally is not thinking of the long term effect. Their actions affect the quality of music that is recorded and eventually there will be nothing to download because the funds to make great quality recordings will not be available.”

IMO, the quailty of music has been going downhill for quite sometime. Example...alternative rock...an alternative to what??
Maybe I'm just out of it, but today's music (?) is a far cry from the days of yesterday, esspecially the child destroying Rap garbage.
