Gujarat Hindus Acquitted

of burning alive 12 Muslims.

On Friday, the court ruled that there was no evidence against the accused.

The ruling had been expected - 35 of the 73 witnesses retracted in court the statements they had given to police identifying the attackers. ...

Several activists and non-governmental organisations in the state have accused the state government, led by the Hindu nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party, of intimidating the witnesses.

Somehow, it seems to me Moslems don't get along with anyone.

Not saying this was right, but they do seem to always be in trouble.

They have a habit of taking out religious processions in India which are so loud and deliberately provoking through very orthodox Hindu areas in cities. This just starts the trouble all over.

I doubt Moslems will ever get along with Jews, Hindus, Christians, and just about anyone else.

Sam HUntington contends Islams borders have always been bloody, are still bloody and will likely continue to be bloody. Perhaps if the culture sees a renaissance it might change.

i know that's ur opinion, and i respect it

but saying things like 'i doubt moslems will ever get along with others' alienates them all the more.

its not always that the muslims _deliberately_ provoke trouble by taking out religious processions in India. politics often play a very important part in the so-called hindu-muslim riots. it has been like that since it started during the british colonial days. there is a bunch of thugs on both sides no doubt, who IMO are the mostly illiterate ones who start the trouble, or are being used as pawns.

alienating each other simply propagates the problem IMO. there are good/better people on both sides. and that number has to be increased. which can be only done by being +ve, everywhere, everytime.

there goes my O

You are right. There are thugs on both sides. The fanatical right wing Hindus are no good. Worse than the Moslems in my opinion and I am a Hindu.

But I was referring to the graeter picture. The view from 50,000 feet up as it were. Moslems have a history of offensiveness going back hundreds of yeras.

As far as the Hindu-Moslem or the Jew-Moslem problems are concerned, I blame both equally.

exactly my point, everyone seems to blame everyone else
the blame game hardly achieves anything

i am a hindu, and i have _very_ close muslim friends. and if we were in the middle of a riot, we'd try our best to stop it. i havent been inside a hindu-muslim riot, but i have been in the same city, carefully protected by my parents from the sensitive areas.

i cannot predict what i'd do if i were in a riot, and if i see my own innocent family members get killed infront of my eyes. but controlling one's rage in such a situation is the ultimate challenge. atleast i'm positive that i'll try my best.

<edit>
its very heart wrenching to read daily newspapers during a riot and read about people killing each other for no apparent reason - 30 minutes from where i'm living. and its equally painful when one realises that hardly anyone is ready to stand in the other person's shoes.

i'm not that well informed to discuss ur opinion that muslims have been aggressive in terms of their religious zeal over the years. but even if that is true, i dont see much point in delving deep into history and making the future all the more murkier
</edit>

some people on both sides need to believe 'no matter whatever happens, we have to sort our differences to ensure peace'. we as future citizens of the world need to be positive as well...

heal the world make it a better place
for u and for me and the entire human race
