Full Nudle Frontity
Just out of curiosity, how do you folks feel about nudity in movies, TV, and in life?
Around these parts, it's not a big deal. But I have noted lots of (IMO) odd reactions to it (nudity). Seems strange to me, but I'm not about to judge anybody on it, I just wanna see what the feeling is here about this.
I have LOTS of life stories on this subject, but I thought I'd fish around for other feelings about this.
Anybody? (lol) |

In Europe or specifically Italy, from where I`m from, there is very litte censor on Nudity in movies.
I don`t understand why is such a big thing here.
You can`t see a lady nude, while you can see people shooting at each others live or stuff much more obscene that nude chicks.
thats just MO.
EDIT: Wrong spelling! sorry

Well, there is nothing wrong with nudity, IMO - it's the reaction to it that is the problem!
Too much nudity is based on getting a reaction (eg selling a movie) more than anything else. Nudity sells, it seems. I disagree with promoting nudity in films and stuff just so they can get more sales.
I also like to think others should be treated with respect. Are we respecting them when we allow perverts to leer and drool over their naked bodies? Not IMO, at least.
I could say a lot more, but you get my points, I think.
Cheers
Mick

Mick | Yep, I take your point, Mick.
But I would like to add that it is the repression that is the problem, here.
Let me illustrate: A few years back, we lived next door to a French guy, and he had a nice swimming pool, and he would throw these lunch/dinner parties there.
There would be lots of people (men and women) who attended, and they wore only small bikini-style bottoms, that's all. My daughters could look at them (and they did) out of the laundry-room window.
You know what? They just took it as just another thing, no big deal.
I think people have to be TRAINED to view nudity as a bad thing.
So how come?

A lot of folks will say the Bible prohibits public nudity. It does not, IMO. It prohibits lust, which is NOT the same.
Granted, men in our Western society will often lust after nude nubile young women. The success of money for pr0n demonstrates this very well. But it's more a response to our social conditioning than anything else. Just visit the Mediterranean and see topless women NOT being harrassed or leered at by the local men. Admired for the beauty displayed, but not lusted after.
It's all about respect, IMO.
Cheers

Mick | Precisely Mick!
So often do I see young woman being whistled at, groped at, followed, etc while they are walking FULLY CLOTHED...just imagine how life for them would be if they were given the right to display God's wonderful creation! Of course it's only natural to have sexual thoughts about an attractive, nude woman...but keep the thoughts to yourself and everything is fine. As you mentioned, I hate to admit it but respect is lacking here in the good ol' USA.
