I now have BASS in my car :-D

After 1 year of research (also waiting to pass drivers ed, buy car, get license, etc.), I am pleased to inform you that all my time and money has culminated into an AWESOME bass system in my car

The juice (I'll be very specific):

Single 12.1D Infinity Perfect (12") subwoofer.
Dual 4 ohm voice coil, aluminum cone and frame. 350w RMS rated (many, many, many people run at 600-700rms)
In the car audio world, this sub is always recommended for SQ.
Bought here.

JBL 600.1 mono, Class D, amplifier
300w x 1 @ 4 ohms
600w x 1 @ 2 ohms
Bought here.

1.75 cu. ft. ported box
3x8" port
Box produces 32hz
3/4 high density fiberboard all around (they were out of medium)
1 1/2" (double walled) in front
1 1/2" screws everywhere but front
3" screws in front
Glued
Caulked
Charcoal carpet
Gold plated screw in terminals
8 heavy duty corner protectors
12" metal grill
Total cost - about $75 +/-

This sucker POUNDS!!! I LOVE IT!!!!!!!! I listened to my friends dual 12" Alpine R series subs......it'll shake every bone inyour body but the accuracy SUCKS. Really boomy. Mine is VERY accurate. When I went into this project, the goal was to basically put my Klipsch home sub in my trunk. I have succeeded

Total cost - $550-$600.

Complete modern technology system. I bought the sub and amp from a well-respected (look at rating) seller; Ordered box components minus the wood from a retailer online; got MUCHO advice from a BMW forum (see *touched* thread) and a car audio forum; used several software port calculators; used Excel to input formulas to make the dimensions of the box so it would fit in trunk........

Just keep it loud and in a few years you won't even notice that it's on full volume.

My hearing is suffering from abuse when I was younger and it's not fun.

Expect dirty looks from lots of people... Most people consider a boomin' car in the area the center of "teenage shenanigans" .. LOL
