agghh!!! Wrong 1-800 number

ok, I need your help. I just tried to call proactive's (great acne stuff) 1-800 number because I just got an e-mail saying that a recent purchase from newegg had been denied, and I think its because the sales rep for proactive messed up in charging me. Well not wanting to have to wait till tommorow to fix it (cause I want my newegg stuff), I was trying to call the number they have on there site. Any way I dialed a digit wrong or something cause unless they have some new marketing campaign where there sales represntitives great you with "mmmm, hi baby..." I think I dialed a phone porn thing by accident. Ok, well the really really bad thing is this was from work that I did it, yeah looking back it was a bad idea. I just wanted my newegg stuff. But anyway, I hung up after the hi baby so I wasn't on for more then a second, but is that going to show up in the phone bill??? I'm about to call the phone company and have that taken off or call my boss (if nothing else works, so he knows I made an honest mistake). But I'd rather for sure it just wouldn't show up.

Are they going to charge for that second, and why on earth do they have those sicko things?

If it was an 800 you shoud be cool. Either way I would mention it to yer boss just to be upfront. If anything comes of it you wont look like you were hiding something.

I have done this many times myself. Well, the wrong number thing, not using a "service" like this.

1-800, 1-888, 1-877 and 1-866 numbers are always toll-free. They cannot charge anything to your phone bill, even if you were to authorize it. The only way they're really going to get a cent out of you is to get credit card information, verbally, from you.

I doubt the number would even be listed on the phone bill, as those numbers redundantly incur no charges.

IF the mistake was dialling 1-900 instead of 1-800, then I believe that may be a different story. That would show up on the phone bill.

Either way - if you want to be extra cautious, you should mention it to your boss - but either way, I think it's probably a non-issue.

Welcome to the proactive automated message menu. Please listen carefully as our menu has recently changed (for those of you who have ever called Logitech that recently changed stuff has been up for about 5 months). "mmmm....hey baby..." Marketers...

Yup, tell your boss. It's the only right thing. Even if it doesn't show up on the bill it would be a good move to tell him/her.

YES TELEXEN they are the devil!! Oy,

Well anyway I told my Boss and I'm not fired, so I dunno. I'm from now on never going to dial quickly, even if my boss has fallen down the stairs and is screaming in pain for me to dial 911. I'll write the number down first, check it back with him, then slowly making sure every digit is correct hit 9 then 1 then 1 and then have my finger on the trigger to hang up just in case.

That thing really scared me!

lol I have the nasty habit of writing down numbers wrong. I wrote down a number with the numbers inverted and I called and got this <in an extremely thick southwestern accent> "Hey, you've reached the ***** residents. Please leave ur name an' number and we'll call ya raat back,"
