and this one is the wildest one yet: Saddam had them, but he destroyed them in order to sucker us into the kind of war he could win -- a post-invasion guerrilla war of attrition that would make the US look bad and prepare the ground for his triumphant return as Iraq's savior. I can see Iraq turning into another Northern Ireland, where there are no winners, only losers and thats the general population.

Northern ireland was ruled remotely by a foreign power.

The plan for Iraq is to put in a democracy of sorts where the people are represented. I fail to see the comparison between iraq and norther Ireland. America's role is a hard one in this because they will be forced to keep the peace while a new government falls into place. As such america will remain the target of frustration and anger for the fringe iraqis
