Yes! I bought a new car yesterday, a white -97 Ford Escort 1.8TD.

I was in a rush to get a diesel car before my vacation (which starts today) because I'll be driving like 3000km in the next two weeks.

Soooo happy about it I just wish I could've got a MB
But guess I'll have to settle for this as a poor person.

It cost me 7600€ (rougly $8000). I know it costs like 4000€ anywhere else.

Not too shabby a car, muno, from what I've seen of them.

Where are you going on your holiday? Or are you just driving around the block a lot?

Cheers
Mick

edit poor spelling.

Nope, not shabby at all. No AC, no CDradio, nothing

I'll be driving from Vantaa (at the southern end of finland), to Seinäjoki (350km north of vantaa, my wife lived there), then to Oulu (another 300km to north, I lived there), and to Muonio (450km to north, my grandmother used to live there), and because it's midsummer festival the night is nightless (sun will shine 24h/day) we'll probably head to norway (>200km).

I'll be driving that route forth and back

We were originally thinking about driving through europe, but when I found out that a ship-that-carries-cars-too costs ~700€ from Germany to Finland the idea was abandoned as far too expensive, as I can go to sunny beaches for 2weeks for that price.

Hey! Look on the good side of that!
With no AC, you will save on gas. With no Radio or CD player you will talk more with your wife and you guys will enjoy each others company
I had an 82 Escort wagon. I loved that car! Drove it for almost 100,000 miles.

I was amazed, the car is much cooler than the previous Honda - with honda you had to open the windows all the way to get some cool air inside (which burns more gas anyways), but this diesel engine runs so cool it's not necessary to have a taifune inside

So far we've traveled 3500km and will travel 1000km more (totalling ~2800miles). It's been very nice

I'm afraid travelling isn't one of the best things in our relationship My wife gets very easily bored sitting/standing still.

And I already ordered a mp3 player from germany for the car.
