keeping my car door closed tight help

ok, a ford tempo, the driver's side has that little metal plate/hook thing that is held in by that big bolt thing so that the door will somehow grasp it and stay shut tight.

the problem is, the bolt always comes loose, and then that little plate/hook thing drops from being horizontal to just hanging below. i have tried taking pliers and tightenning it as tight as i can, but it is only god for a few days.

what solutions can you come up with for just me to do rather than taking some place to do it.

Yep. Locktite, the amateur fix-it solution...right behind Duct Tape!

Gotta have it on hand, great stuff!

This....Wally World... I've seen it referred to on this board, but I have no idea what it is (guess we don't have 'em here.)

Any auto parts place will have Loctite. Last time I looked, there were TWO kinds, red and blue. Ask the guy at the counter for advice, Six.

I suggest a piece of rope. Just tie it between the 2 doors when you get in, the steering wheel will work in a pinch if you dont have a long enough rope.

If loc-tite didn't work use jb weld but it'll be permanent so make sure it's aligned.
