vinyl siding expert

I am removng the old siding and replacing with vinyl siding. My question is if the walls inside have the visqueen vapor barrior is it safe to wrap the house in Tyvek before the siding is put on. I heard that this will create a moinsture trap in the wall.

I don't know who told you that, but ignore it. Tyvek "breathes", it keeps moisture out, not in. I've been in construction for 20yrs., I have yet to see a house built without vapor barrier on both sides of the walls.

Stripping the skin off an entire house???
I thought vinyl simply went over the old stuff---thats what made it so ideal...

vapor barrier on the inside walls between the drywall and the studs is Not A Good Thing.

the interior of the walls still have to breathe.

i replaced all the drywall on the outside walls and ceiling of a whole house caused by moisture saturation from t he walls not being able to breathe.

if you are stripping the old siding off the outside, can you see the plastic sheeting between the drywall and the studs??

darrell is right. tyvek allows the wall to breathe. good stuff.

I replaced drywall on the inside of the house, all exterior walls has a vapor (plastic) attacehed to the walls.
I though vapor barriors were only for basements to protect the studs.
