Is Spinal Tap a real band?

I vehemently say no, but a buddy and I are engaged in this stupid debate...again. I pointed out to him that it even says it's a mock-documentary on the cover of the movie, but he keeps arguing in circles.The amps go to 11, a bunch of drummers (I think, it's been a while) have died, one of them of spontaneous combustion. The actors are in other movies, they say in the movie there are a ton of albums, but I've only ever seen one or two and these are the greatest hits (More like a soundtrack) etc, etc...
So, how many are with me, and how many against...please post why you agree or disagree

Seeing as they all play their own instruments and have released albums, etc., I'd consider them a "real" band. A parody, granted, but a real band nonetheless.

next what is your definition of a band. I believe they are a band. They are a band as a result of the movie, but a band none-the-less. all the actors play the instruments and sing the vocals. I know this because, i've seen them play on some TV show or special where they had the drummer from Fleetwood Mack as their newest drummer.
