Systems Well this is depressing.

50/50 chance of an apocalypse. Great story to start your day.

If ya want a good story about a man-made virus and the end of the world as we know it, read Frank Herbert's The White Plague.

Realistic enough to be frightening.

Cheers

Hmmm. Oh well. If it happens, we had a nice run!

(sounds like he's become a bit of an alarmist though...)

Agreed. Like the article says, folks have been predicting the end since the beginning. We're still here. Just depresses me to think we won't even put a dent in the dinosaurs' longevity record. Stupid reptiles.

I JUST finished writing a story for my journalism class on the possible ways for the world to end, and I sighted Rees's book! Wow what a quinky dinky.

Really I'm not worried, everybody on the earth have already died before (old age, but they were replaced by offspring). So you know whatever. your more likely to die on your way to work by being hit by a car, or choke on your breakfast.

interesting... however, this yields an even more important discovery. Where did that photo of primitive man 70,000 years ago come from???

1 of 2 things can be derived from that link. The photo indicates that either primitive man had developed photographic technology (pun intended!) which is unlikely - especially given the quality of the photograph, which would indicate that it was taken recently - OR - either mankind has already, or at some point in the future will develop time travel!!! (and travel back to 70,000 years prior to now, snap a photo, and bring it back to this time period to provide photographic support for the above article)

amazing! Good find, droppy!

Interesting... As it has already been mentioned, they missed several other ways that all life could end. Except for cockroaches, they seem to be able to live through anything.
