Guitar Institute Technology

Anyone know anything about GIT? I wanted to go there when I was younger. I know it's not Berklee but Berklee is a college.

Thanks

yeah i got a flyer a couple years ago. my imagination went wild of hippies and jerks, and self-acclaimed 'musicians' talking chords and strings like they were movies. not my idea of a good time. plus it cost like $3k right?

I know a guy that went there - he enjoyed it - told me that one of the folks that came in to give demo's (at the time) was Eric Johnson - now, this was mid 80's

I had a friend that graduated there. He was an amazing player.
He could play chords with his right hand, while playing melody with the left,it is an amazing sight.
If your looking to be a professional player, it's a must.
And yes they talk about riffs, chords, and scales like we talk about vid cards,MOBOs,and software.Although I didn't find him boring,I was too busy wiping drool from my chin.He is a great player.

GIT is one school in the Musician's Institute. They have others for vocals, percussion, etc.

AFAIK it's not an accredited school where you can get a degree or anything, but it IS eat/sleep/breathe music 24/7. The guys I've known who have been there have been staggering in the scope and breadth of their musical knowledge, not to mention their chops.

FWIW, all four of the original members of Extreme are Musicians Institute graduates and now are instructors there. To talk to them, you forget pretty quick about the "big hair and Spandex rocker" image. These guys know their stuff.

I do live in MA so I figure maybe I could get the same thing by finding a Berklee teacher. I am self taught and I want to learn more theory and learn something different maybe jazz or classical.

Thanks

It is something I always wanted to do but never had the resources

oh well I'm too old to be a rock star anyway
