Credit check

what does your credit rating have to do with getting a job? I have heard of people being turned do because of their credit rating is that legal?

Seems to be the new in thing for employers. If you have a bad credit rating 'obviously' you're not a very responsible person, therefor probably a poor choice for a job. Really lame, but painfully accurate in some cases.

If you get a job that requires a security clearance (secret, top secret etc) you have to go through and list everywhere you've lived for 5+ years, one person you knew at each residence, like 3 relatives, a few friends, Financial information ... and a partridge in a pear tree... NOT a fun thing to fill out ... however, part of the theory is if you're in deep financialtrouble .... you maybe more apt to 'sell off' information to competitors or in gov't positions... to other countries

I would assume employers believe it could be an indication to your reliability and probability of theft. Personally, I would think a look at police records would be a better tool, but...

Vass is right about security checks.
