The real reason for war with Iraq
It may be more callous than liberals and doves would like, but this article speaks to the real reasons we went to war with Iraq. BTW, oil wasn't one of them.

I have to say I agree with the "real" reason. If you look at how much of a beating we take from these terrorist groups that are almost without exception from this part of the world, it was only a matter of time before we decided enough was enough. When was the last time you heard of a Peruvian terrorist group? For too long these governments did what they wanted because while we had been dealing with this in small, limited strikes we would never really get serious. We knock down a camp, they build another.
Lets face it, we could pretty much flatten most of this part of the world in a matter of weeks if so inclined. If we really wanted the oil, we would go get the oil. Iraq had not been exporting much oil since the Gulf War and we got by just fine. And, you would be hard pressed to find anyone who would defend Saddam. So, after years of thumbing his nose at the UN and not complying, he got what he probably thought we would never do.
So, the exact ONE reason is really irrelevant. It needed to be done, and we did it. Sometimes the right thing isn't the easy thing. But, I think we did the right thing. We made it clear that we were still here, still capable and still willing.
I am not saying that might makes right by any means, but in this/these cases we tried long and hard for another solution.

Then why say the allied went there because of womd etc. whatever, if one already knew there were nothing like that there.
Why make a lie that will not hold? Why lie in the first place?

Actually Silicon, lots of Colombian terrorist groups running around.. Of course they normally attack each other. The only time they attack the U.S. is if we stick our nose too far into an ongoing civil war (or slaughter)
Also don't people go to the Phillippines and get kidnapped by terrorist rebels there? We just send troops to train the military there instead.
These groups running throug the jungle have be-headed hostages. They are really friendly. |

Point taken Mike, I was thinking of ones that seek us out and attack us directly. USS Cole, Barracks, Hotels, WTC, Pentagon

Well apparently the main Phillipines terrorist Abu Sayyaf was supported by Al Qaida... I think that was during the time that EVERYONE was funded by Bin Laden.
It's a business to steal Americans in the Phillippines and in Colombia. Can make quite a profit.

Muno, I agree 100%. Why lie in the first place. In politics and in life the truth will get you further than any lie you can cook up.

I quit reading at this point Quote: |
The real weapons that threaten us are the growing number of angry, humiliated young Arabs and Muslims, who are produced by failed or failing Arab states — young people who hate America more than they love life.
| Is this idiot trying to tell us that our actions in the mideast have reduced this number? That it was Saddam that was causing the increase? Please, maybe I'll read on but I need to get to work.
Welcome back RADAR.
