I think that everyone has or is working with a complete idiot.
My dad in Michigan worked for one that was almost untouchable. They caught him stealing but couldn't do too much about it.
He was the only African American worker in the plant. If he gets fired, he'd simply sue for discrimination, and he'd probably win.

Don't worry. It's not as bad as being a congressman

I thought that I had been working with a crew of idiots (not all, but enough) when...

The boss that they gave us was an office type that had never worked the plant floor in his life. I thought that he just could not get dumber than he was already.

Then he starts in on me, ragging that I am taking to much time (fixing problems on nearly every one of the seats). The fact that it was his job to correct the problems totally skipped his mind (He had one?).

Then he did the one thing that has had him imortalized in that plant. He called me out in front of the whole department, and then demanded to discipline me ALONE in a closed room... (I did not harm him in any physical way. My will power must be amazing).

Even after that he still was clueless fool...

Working with idiots isn't so bad. At least they have an excuse. What I hate is working with people that are smart but unprofessional and uncaring.

I've only met a few congress people. I would only classify one of them, Frank Lautenberg, as a truly pompous jerk. The others were very genuine and very professional. Having had to deal with one of them and his staff about a sticky little issue, I was really impressed with how courteous, responsive and prompt they were.

Uncaring? That would have been the sister in law of a coworker.

She was getting tired of having to be on the line the full eight hours, and he was getting tired of covering for her. So she calls his wife (pregnant and over due) with a story about him cheating on her...

It took three people to keep him off her. It took an ambulance to get her to the hospitol.

Gaaaahhh! I'm surrounded by stupid people at my work. Half the time they don't pay attention to the screen that they're reading off. So they end up putting the wrong seat frame into the foam. By the time it's caught the seat is half-way down the line. And this person has worked the same job for 4 years!

Or how about the people that are getting paid 19 bucks an hour to work and complain that their hands hurt after 1 day. So they come in the next day and insist on being put on a half hour on, half hour off job!

Or the geniuses that smack their heads off the conveyor system and fire their coffee onto you. "Thanks moron, it's only a white shirt. I don't mind, really. Go ahead, anytime.

I have to agree with CERuppel. There are definitely some winners working in the automotive industry.

whew, I was worried that it was only our office that attracted them..

I keep hoping that, left to themselves - they'll lose their job - and go to an all-idiot workplace somewhere else - but thats not looking to promising.

when i m doing contracting work on my own,and somebody asks"are you working?" my favorite is:

yep,i m self-employed and my boss is a real jerk

i work with different people on every job i go on. been at it for almost 30 years,so i kinda know whos who when i show up.

i get along with close to everybody, tho there a select "few" that i d rather not either partner up with or even work in the same room with.

not working with the same people for long periods of time has its advantages

dunno who said it,but.........."FAMILIARITY BREEDS CONTEMPT"

stay cool at all costs is my motto.
