St. Anger

I heard Metallica's St. Anger today... that was horrible!

I was REALLY hoping they'd wake up and smell the coffee and get back to their roots so to speak.. but unfortunatetly it got worse

There didn't seem to be any flow in the band at all, nothing mixed right.. the voice (done poorly IMO) didn't mix with the drums (a very repetitive lame beat I might add). The problem with the voice is it seems he (James Hetfield) is trying to sing pretty or something.. , and well.. he's not that kind of singer they're becoming the Kenny G of metal

I just think they're getting to sound like every other "Metal" band out there and it sucks

Thoughts?
I'm hoping the rest of the album is better, but not having high expectations.

btw, has anybody heard Jason Newstead's (Another Michigan guy ) new group? Any good?

i heard the first song called frantic, they intro was pretty cool until the singing started. i think i will listen to the new deftones now.

i have never been a metallica fan, and this song was terrible i thought. i can listen to their older stuff, but this song is just unbearable IMO. not only are the drums repetious, but the lyrics are even worse. i think the whole song is ver 'unblended' from the openning to his saying "st anger" 3x and then again over the chorus saying "you flush it out" just lame lyrics in general.

when i was around 11 was when i first got into metallica. i proceded to buy Kill Em' All all the way through ReLoad. i loved them all, the older the better. then for christmas i asked for Garage Inc. i was sadly dissapointed by the first cd(new covers), the second cd was ok(older covers). when S&M came out i thought maybe it was be cool. again i was SADLY dissapointed. there werent even any bells in the intro of For Whom The Bell Tolls, and it was with a freakin sympony! when i heard that song they did for mission impossible 2, it made me want to vomit. im not gonna subject my poor ears to this new stuff they have, it would be too cruel.

jason newsted was my favorite member of the band and it really pissed me off when he quit(on that note i was also pissed when zach delarocha(sp?) quit rage against the machine). is jasons new band any good?

This is metalicas new way of discouraging people downloading their music. make it bad!!

Reminds me of all the stuff people were saying when they released their black album. Sellouts, etc. I'll have to check it out before I make my final decision, but again, I was unpleasantly shocked by Boston's new album, which is proof that a band doesn't necessarily stay good over time...

Actually I liked the black album... it was Load where I stopped liking the newer cd's..

The black album was a sellout, they broke out of thier old style to appeal to a wider public at a cost of their older fans.

I turn the radio off when thier new song comes on, it sounds like a bunch of people trying too hard to be what they were.

I'm with TBC on this one, it's bad music.
