Had a McVeggie burger today---tried it???
A friends kid was doin some work for me and force/swung me thru a McD drivethru on my way to droppin him off at home---at first I wasnt ordering nothin myself, but decided to snatch a McVeggieBurger probably due to hearing about it---(I like any and all vegetables) it wasnt that bad---comes on a special sesame bun with ketchup, chopped onions, shredded lettuce and a slice of REAL tomato, the flavoring is unique and not overtly "meaty tasting" it was chewy and thick with excellent mouth feel as it roams around your palette with a spicy- actually what I would call- middle eastern flavor----yum yum! It did have a smidge of bbq sauce on it for some reason which totally screwed it up---bet the kids wont notice---try fakin em out with a "meatless" burger for a change---surely couldnt hurt em...
:-)
(Itl take a roadside emergency [or somethin] for me to goto McDonalds again)
Edit---> OOOH! Just found out why it was so yummy yum yummy!
The "patty" was made up of:
Water, Soy protein concentrate, Corn Oil, Soy protein isolate, Methylcellulose, Salt, Modified Cornstarch, Maltodextrin, Malt extract, Hydrolyzed wheat protein, Dried onion, Garlic powder, Black pepper, Spices, Natural smoke flavor, Beet powder, Autolyzed yeast extract, Corn syrup solids.
Methylcellulose---oh thats some good STUFF!

Doesn't make me sleepy either like the rest of the stuff. grrrrr.
Hate how food always makes me so sleeping EXCEPT veggies and fruit.

I prefer Wendy's, Jack in the Box, and Del Taco. Although if the 'rents are paying, i'll eat just about anything. Normally when I go to McD's I just get some fries and a McFlurry.. (With the temperature in Cali, I eat them while wearing shorts in February!)
Normally I don't like the thought of eating a McD's limited time only special. Just a bit paranoid about their food. |

The first thing I thought of when I read METHYLCELLULOSE, was the stuff you mix in dirt for potted plants that retains water so you don't have to water so often. It's a gelatinous substance that absorbs water.
Can you say Metamucll? | |

They don't have that here in Canada yet. It sounds like it's worth trying...
