Jessica Lynch 'rescue' a crock, says BBC
CBC Newsworld will air the BBC's expose of the phony spin the U.S. put on Jessica Lynch's recovery in Iraq.

TORONTO -- The morale-boosting, too-good-to-be-true rescue of Pte. Jessica Lynch by U.S. special forces is put under critical scrutiny Sunday by a BBC documentary.
War Spin: The Truth About Jessica, airs Sunday at 10 p.m. on CBC Newsworld's program Passionate Eye.
The special uncovers major discrepancies in the Pentagon's Rambo-like interpretation of the rescue in Iraq and concludes the incident is one of the most stunning pieces of news management ever conceived.
John Kampfner, a reporter for the program BBC Correspondent, investigated the famous story of how U.S. troops conducted a "daring rescue" behind enemy lines to extract the seriously wounded 19-year-old private.
He confirmed reports that by the time the raid was conducted on the hospital where Lynch was taken, Iraqi troops had already departed and that she was being well taken care of by doctors and staff.
In addition, her so-called stab and bullet wounds were actually road accident injuries and the special forces knew that at the time.
